PEOPLE – Personality tests aren’t just for killing time during the summer on the beach. The singer Adele, who confided in Oprah Winfrey at length in an interview broadcast on the CBS channel this Sunday, November 14, can testify to this.

As she explained to the host, this allowed her to make a big decision in her life: divorce. She remembers one question in particular: “What’s the one thing nobody knows about you?”

The interpreter of Easy On Me, then surrounded by her friends, replied: “I am really not happy. I don’t live, I just struggle. It’s the shock. The people who were with them “were all surprised”, recalls the star. “From that moment on,” Adele continues, “I was like, ‘What am I doing? Why am I doing this?’”

Divorce from her husband, chef Simon Konecki? She says she hesitated for a long time. And for good reason, she was very affected by the departure of her father when she was a child. “From an early age, [je] promised myself that when I had children, we would stay together,” she said. Adele and Simon Konecki have a child, a 9-year-old boy.

Lots of “dark songs”

But the star finally took the plunge. It hasn’t been easy. The 33-year-old British singer talks about a long process and struggles to “get by for yourself, every day, to be there for yourself every day. And continue to run his house, run his career…so many people know what I’m talking about. I juggled with all that, but I no longer wanted to do it. It hurt my feet, walking through all that concrete.”

She continues: “I had the most terrifying panic attacks of my life after leaving my husband. They completely paralyzed me, and it really upset me, because I no longer had any control over my body. I noticed that I was not anxious when I was at the gym, so it became my moment.

Lots of ‘pretty dark’ songs from his new album 30, which is scheduled for release this Friday, November 19, refer to the consequences of this painful divorce. The interview with Oprah Winfrey will be broadcast in France on TMC on December 3.
